Derek Van Dam is an American meteorologist working at CNN. He has been working at the network since joining in September 2014. 

Derek Van Dam Career

Van Dam serves as the weekday and weekend weather anchor at CNN based in Atlanta.

In this role, he is in charge of providing science bulletins and weather reports for the network.

He is also a “Certified Broadcast Meteorologist” by the American Meteorological Society (AMS). Since joining CNN, he has enclosed on several devastating weather events including Hurricane Maria from San Juan, Puerto Rico; Hurricane Nate from Biloxi, Mississippi; Hurricane Harvey from Houston, Texas; and Hurricane Irma from Miami Beach, Florida.

Van Dam also made contributions in Tennessee to the network’s special live coverage of the solar eclipse.
