    The John Paul Jones (DDG 53) is the third in the Arleigh Burke-class of Aegis guided-missile destroyers and is named after American Revolutionary War Captain John Paul Jones. The construction began on August 8, 1990, at Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine; Christened and launched on October 26, 1991.
